The economic burden of cancer across the European Union
Presentation by Jose Leal to the 8th NCRI Cancer Conference,
November 2012. Abstract
Wider statin use in healthy people
could save 2,000 lives a year in the UK. Boby Mihaylova is the lead author of a paper published in the Lancet on 17 May which reports the results of the largest and most reliable study ever of the effect of statins. Statins reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes and premature deaths among a wide range of apparently healthy people. The benefits greatly exceed any known risks. See CTSU press release here.
