A randomized controlled trial of evidence-based medicine in the management of hypertension

Dates: 2003 - 2008
Funding: National Health and Medical Research Council, Australia
Collaborators: University of Western Australia
Information: Emma McIntosh

The objective of this trial is to assess the impact of an evidence-based guideline, combined with peer-compared and practice-based feedback, to improve the blood pressure and cardiovascular risk of patients with hypertension. The specific aim of the economic evaluation is to measure the cost and benefits of the guideline's use with respect to consultation, medication and other costs, and clinical and other outcomes and compare this to the costs and benefits arising with ‘standard care'.
