Judit Simon investigated the methodological issues related to integrating health economic evidence into clinical practice guidelines as part of her DPhil programme with a research scientist award from the Department of Health (NCCRCD).
The research focussed on the exploration of potentially relevant economic concepts in clinical guideline development and the development of a methodological framework to synthesise and incorporate economic evidence within this context. Judit provided the health economic input to three mental health guidelines (schizophrenia, eating disorders, depression) commissioned by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence and developed by the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health which acted as the empirical case studies to the research.
