A randomized controlled trial of evidence-based medicine in the management of hypertension
|Dates:||2003 - 2008|
|Funding:||National Health and Medical Research Council, Australia|
|Collaborators:||University of Western Australia|
The objective of this trial was to assess the impact of an evidence-based guideline, combined with peer-compared and practice-based feedback, to improve the blood pressure and cardiovascular risk of patients with hypertension. The specific aim of the economic evaluation was to measure the cost and benefits of the guideline's use with respect to consultation, medication and other costs, and clinical and other outcomes and compare this to the costs and benefits arising with ‘standard care'.
