Dr Fusco first visited the Health Economics Research Centre (HERC) in 2014 and 2015 as a visiting PhD student. Francesco joined HERC in September 2015 as a health economist upon completion of his Doctorate in Healthcare Innovation Management at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Pisa, Italy). Francesco also has a Pharmacy degree from Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II and an MSc in Clinical research from Università degli Studi di Milano.
Francesco is involved in several ongoing projects using economic evaluations employed within trial analysis and decision modelling. His research interests include but not limited to: liver diseases, lower limb orthopaedics surgery, and telemedicine. In particular, his work focuses on the cost-effectiveness analysis of the use of Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT) for patients with unresectable liver metastatic colorectal cancer (FOXFIRE). The orthopaedic projects currently underway include the within trial economic analysis for Total or Partial Knee Arthroplasty Trial (TOPKAT) and rehabilitation after Resurfacing Hip Arthroplasty trial.
Dr Fusco has publications in scientific journals and international conferences in the areas of: health related quality of life, haemophilia, chronic hepatic diseases and telemedicine. He is also an ex-president of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research (ISPOR) - Student chapter at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies.
