Abstract: Please join us on the 8th of October for a HERC seminar featuring insightful presentations from researchers in HERC Sarah Wordsworth, John Buckell, Rositsa Koleva-Kolarova, Sally Sansom, Frederick McElwee and Padraig Dixon (Nuffield Department of Primary Health Care Sciences).
The presentations will examine the area of health economics and genomics and provide an overview of the exciting challenges faced by researchers in this area. This will include exploring the implications of using genomic sequencing in ‘healthy’ populations of adults and newborn babies and determining the outcomes that matter the most to patients and families when undergoing sequencing. The seminar will also explore the challenges of modelling genomic approaches, funding the approaches, the economic implications of using of polygenic risk scores to guide patient health care and how a Mendelian randomization study design can help to estimate cost-effectiveness.
The seminar will give an insight into research across HERC and Primary Health Care that aims to contribute to the understanding of how health economics approach genomic medicine. Some of the material to be discussed can be found in the following links:
