Xiaowen joined the Health Economics Research Centre (HERC) as a researcher with an NIHR pre-doctoral fellowship in 2024, under the supervision of Dr John Buckell and Dr Koen Pouwels. She is currently involved in research focusing on a discrete choice experiment to understand the factors influencing perinatal clinical trial participation among underserved groups in England, and early-stage cost-effectiveness modelling of a rapid antimicrobial susceptibility test assisting the treatment of UTI in primary care settings.  

Prior to her position at HERC, Xiaowen graduated with a BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2016 and an MSc in Pharmacognosy in 2018 from Peking University, and received an MSc in Health Economics from the University of York in 2023.
