Respiratory disease causes a huge health and economic burden in the UK. Although statistics on a number of individual diseases of the respiratory system are available, no data which combines the full range of respiratory diseases previously existed. This project quantified the amount of death and disease caused by respiratory disease in the UK, highlighting trends in respiratory disease, describing current levels of treatment in respiratory disease and providing information on the economic costs of the disease.
